Working as an educator requires commitment, empathy, and solid professional knowledge.
The Danish training in general pedagogy and social pedagogy with a German-language entry is for you if you dream of creating an exciting, challenging and safe everyday life for children, young people and adults.
Educators play an important role in all areas of our lives.
In daycare, it is the educators who teach us how to unzip our jackets, make friends, and wait politely until it is our turn.
At the school, educators – in close cooperation with the teachers – ensure that the children develop well and experience a varied day with fun activities that offer them everything they need for learning.
For people who are physically, mentally, or socially disabled, educators are an indispensable support in everyday life - someone you can confide in, who will move mountains for you and create the best possible conditions for a good life.
UC SYD has a clear goal for your training: You will become a teacher with solid expertise and solve some of the most important tasks in our society – whether in day care, school and leisure education, or social and special services.
You must be prepared to give your all throughout your studies. You will contribute to a positive work culture within your study group, collaborate with other departments, actively participate in classes, and continuously work on yourself along the way – mentally, physically, musically, and creatively.
As a graduate, you will be a role model and make a difference for people in different life situations - each and every one in their own situation and with their own qualifications.
Everything you will do in your studies and professional life is based on both practical experience and theoretical knowledge.
As part of the teacher training at UC SYD, we demand a lot from you - so that you can go out into the world and be a great thing for others.
The first year of your studies is taught in German, while you simultaneously learn Danish. From the second year onwards, instruction is in Danish, and you will be fully integrated into the Danish study environment.
During your studies, you will complete internships in daycare centers, schools, and other places where educators work – both in Denmark and in the Danish minority region of Southern Schleswig. Here you will meet advisors who will support and guide you throughout your training.
The internship makes up about a third of your training. You complete your studies with a bachelor's project in which you can explore the educational topic that interests you most.
The lessons in the first year are conducted in German, which requires applicants to have a command of the German language at least at B2 level.
After the first year, the program continues in Danish. This gives students the opportunity to acquire linguistic and cultural skills while simultaneously preparing professionally for work in Danish institutions and schools.
