Key Summary
Our Academic Study Abroad Program (ASAP) is specifically designed for eligible international university-level students to enhance their educational experience by studying in ASAP for 1, 2 or 3 quarters. While in ASAP, students have the opportunity to enroll full-time alongside matriculated UC Irvine students in credit-bearing UC Irvine courses and UC Irvine Continuing Education courses. ASAP does not offer any course accommodations or application assistance related to students' admission to their future degree programs.
ASAP General Track
Our Academic Study Abroad Program (ASAP) is specifically designed for eligible international university-level students to enhance their educational experience by studying in ASAP for 3, 6 or 9 months. ASAP students will enroll full-time in credit-bearing UC Irvine courses and UC Irvine Continuing Education courses alongside matriculated UC Irvine students.
ASAP Customized Success Language (CSL) Track
Our ASAP CSL Track is designed for international university-level students to enhance their educational experience by studying abroad at UC Irvine for 6 or 9 months. ASAP CSL Track students will have the opportunity to enroll in full-time UC Irvine and UC Irvine Continuing Education credit-bearing courses, such as ACPs, alongside matriculated UC Irvine students upon meeting the program’s progression criteria. The ASAP CSL track is recommended for students who need additional English language training and academic support to succeed in their university-level courses.
ASAP Specialized Track
Our Academic Study Abroad Program (ASAP) Specialized Track provides a focused study plan with select pre-approved credit-bearing courses that are typically impacted and high-demand in specific academic disciplines for qualified international university-level students to study alongside matriculated UC Irvine students. Specialized Track students are required to enroll a minimum of 12 units of courses that align to their current academic major of study. Moreover, having back-up courses approved by the home university prior to the start of the program is strongly recommended in case the desired courses become unavailable.
Important Note
- ASAP students can enroll in full-time (12 units) UC Irvine and UC Irvine Continuing Education courses for university credit. Enrollment in UC Irvine undergraduate courses through Concurrent Enrollment is on a space-available basis after all matriculated UC Irvine students have been enrolled and requires instructor and/or department approval during the first two weeks of every quarter.
- ASAP General students can enroll in more than 12 units per quarter if they meet specific conditions. Additional tuition is required.
- Enrollment in UC Irvine undergraduate courses through Concurrent Enrollment is on a space-available basis after all matriculated UC Irvine students have been enrolled with the approval from the course instructor and/or department during the first two weeks of every academic quarter.
- Specialized Track students are eligible to enroll in up to 16 units, or 4 UCI courses, per quarter as part of their tuition.

Courses within the Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, and Math fields are highly impacted, and receiving permission to enroll in these courses can be more difficult. ASAP students are not permitted to enroll in courses offered by the UC Irvine School of Law, Paul Merage School of Business, Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, and the School of Medicine.
Enrollment in any specific course is not guaranteed, so having a list of alternative courses is necessary to maintain full-time status.

Detailed course list for each subject can be found on the UC Irvine General Catalogue. Please note that course offerings and pre-approved courses are updated quarterly. Students must meet the course pre-requisites and the ASAP academic policies before enrolling.
Enrollment in any other course that is not listed above requires additional approvals by the ASAP registration deadline. ASAP students are not permitted to enroll in courses offered by the UC Irvine School of Law, Paul Merage School of Business, Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, and the School of Medicine.
