Established in 1962, UCI Division of Continuing Education has been offering education for adult learners in Orange County for over half a century. Today we maintain over 30,000 enrollments from students worldwide each year and offer hundreds of exciting courses and programs to local, regional and global constituencies.

UCI Division of Continuing Education offers over 60 convenient certificates and specialized studies programs on campus and online designed for the working professional who seeks career advancement and personal enrichment. So if you are trying to start a new career, build a company, or better develop an appreciation of the world around you, UCI Division of Continuing Education has the resources needed to support your undertakings.

A Non-Smoking Campus

    Scholarship Program

    UCI DCE offers a limited number of scholarships, each covering tuition up to $1,500 that can be applied toward enrollment in one or more Winter 2022 or Spring 2022 courses.

    Who is Eligible?

    Any student who has met all three requirements below:

    • Registered for a UCI DCE certificate program, specialized studies, international program or concurrent enrollment course.
    • Successfully completed at least two courses since June 1, 2016.
    • Earned a grade of B or higher in your most recent DCE course.

    In the online application, you will be asked to answer the following questions:

    • Reason for Application: in 500 characters, or less, briefly describe the reason you are applying for this scholarship.
    • Statement of Personal or Professional Goals: in 1500 characters or less, please describe how the UCI DCE program will help you attain your personal and/or professional goals.
    • Submit a Professional or Academic Letter of Recommendation: Please request that a professional or academic colleague (such as a supervisor, manager, or recent instructor) directly email a letter of recommendation to us. Acceptable formats for the recommendation letter are MS Word or PDF.

    Making friends, networking, regional travel, and experiencing American culture are all a part of what it means to be a student with us.

    Student Support
    Enrolling at UC Irvine DCE gives you more than just a great academic program; students can expect a full range of support service to make their time with us as productive and fulfilling as possible.

    All students will participate in orientation at the beginning of their program. During orientation, you will:

    • Learn more about your programs and meet instructors and staff
    • Discover the campus resources and support services available to you
    • Fulfill government regulations related to your stay in the US
    • Meet new people and make friends from around the world

    If you are a new ESL student, you will also take a test to place you into the English class that will best meet your English language needs.

    Events & Activities
    The Student Life & Activities team creates a quarterly calendar full of various events, trips, sports, and activities both on and off campus for you to enjoy.

    Pre-Planned Activities
    Previous pre-planned activities usually included city tours to famous locations, theme parks, museums, beaches, and performances.

    The Student Life & Activities team also organizes FREE large quarterly events, such as:

    • Welcome Picnics
    • International Potlucks
    • Beach Bonfire
    • Summer Pool Party
    • Halloween Festival
    • Soccer Tournaments
    • Each week, students are also invited to join Student Life & Activities team members for lunch series, dance workshops, sports, and social gatherings on campus
    • Our team will also help you with your personal trip planning. We provide assistance with transportation, directions, lodging, and points of interest
    • Some trips and activities require an additional fee for admission and transportation (provided by bus or UC Irvine van)
