About: The Early Childhood Education BS program equips students with the knowledge and skills to promote child development and learning in early childhood settings. Students engage in practical experiences, learning how to effectively support young children’s growth and learning pathways. The program combines theoretical foundations with hands-on practice, preparing graduates to meet a range of educational needs.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue various career paths, including roles as preschool teachers, child care center directors, or early childhood educators. Opportunities exist in public and private schools, community programs, and family service organizations.

The Pitt-Johnstown Early Childhood Education Program prepares our candidates to become certified graduates of Early Childhood Education who are eligible to teach in Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade.

The curriculum includes a distribution of courses in the arts and sciences, field-connected education courses, and an academic concentration. Early childhood educators have the opportunity for employment in a field that dramatically shapes and influences the lives of their students. They are flexible, use various instructional methods, and enjoy an autonomous work environment in public and private schools, daycare centers, and preschool settings.
