Key Summary
Introduction
Learn how to help
Professional social work promotes social change, social development and social cohesion as well as the empowerment and liberation of people. Principles of social justice, human rights, social responsibility and respect for diversity are fundamental to social work. On the basis of social work methods and theories and a wide range of scientific principles, social work helps to overcome the challenges of life.
The Bachelor's degree program in "Social Work" offers interdisciplinary training for experts who advise, accompany and support people and plan and organize assistance processes. The course ensures practice-oriented vocational training and has the general training goal: "Learn how to help!"
In addition, the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences also runs a course in "Academic Social Pedagogical Specialist Supervisor" with 165 ECTS as a vocational training based on the Upper Austria Social Professions Act as part of its Center of Lifelong Learning (COL3). This course is aimed at people with and without a high school diploma. Its graduates have a high level of permeability to a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and those with a university entrance qualification have the opportunity to then take the Master's degree in Social Work at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences.
