Year 1 : Foundations & Sound Production
The first year focuses on building a solid theoretical and practical foundation in sound and music, through intensive project-based learning. Courses cover essential topics such as sound theory, acoustics, music theory, and electricity, along with artistic exploration through art and culture modules.
On the practical side, you’ll master key software like Logic Pro and Pro Tools, and develop skills in composition, beatmaking, recording, mixing, and mastering.
Throughout the year, you’ll work on major projects such as creating a remix, producing a two-track EP, and composing soundtracks for student films.
This first year is all about interdisciplinary collaboration, teamwork, and mastering the core principles of sound production.
Year 2 – Expertise & Sound Leadership
In the second year, you deepen your technical and artistic skills while taking on leadership roles as project managers. You’ll explore advanced topics such as film scoring, orchestral composition, music business, and marketing, while perfecting your practical expertise in analog and multichannel mixing, modular synthesis, and sound design for video games.
Key projects include producing a four-track EP, creating a sound design installation or performance, and composing original scores for films.
Through close collaboration with other departments and industry professionals, you’ll refine both your artistic vision and technical mastery, supported by personalized mentoring to help you shape and strengthen your professional project.
Each semester, students who successfully complete the program earn 30 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and accumulation System), totaling 120 credits over the two years.
This credit standard enables students to apply for student aid and funding. We can issue the necessary documents for you to provide to the relevant organizations.
Upon graduation, students receive a school diploma recognized by industry professionals, backed by the prestige of 3iS and the strong international reputation of France in the creative and audiovisual sectors.

The contemporary music and audio industries demand advanced technical mastery, creative innovation, and professional adaptability. Our master's graduates pursue distinguished careers across the full spectrum of sound production, from studio album recordings to cinematic soundtracks, live concert tours, and emerging immersive media formats.
Music Production and Studio Engineering
Alumni work as sound engineers and production sound mixers in world-class recording facilities, independent production houses, and home studio environments. These roles require sophisticated signal flow knowledge, critical listening abilities, and the capacity to capture and shape recordings across genres—from orchestral sessions at historic Parisian studios to electronic productions for global streaming platforms. The integration of remote collaboration tools enables engineers to work on international projects while maintaining artistic consistency and technical excellence.
Sound Design and Post-Production Audio
Graduates pursue careers as sound designers and sound editors for film, television, gaming, and digital media. Whether crafting immersive sonic environments for feature films, designing audio for interactive experiences, or editing dialogue and atmosphere for streaming series, these professionals combine creative vision with technical precision. The proliferation of spatial audio formats—Dolby Atmos, immersive surround configurations—has intensified demand for audio specialists fluent in object-based workflows and three-dimensional sound placement.
Live Sound and Performance Production
Paris's position as a European cultural capital provides direct access to the continent's live music and performance infrastructure. The city hosts internationally significant events—festivals such as Rock en Seine, performances at Olympia and Accor Arena, classical concerts at Philharmonie de Paris. Our graduates serve as production sound mixers, audio technicians, and front-of-house engineers for artists ranging from intimate jazz ensembles to stadium-filling international acts, developing expertise in real-time mixing and high-pressure live environments.
Broadcast and Multimedia Audio
Alumni work as sound recordists and audio technicians for radio networks, podcast studios, broadcast productions, and corporate media. France's robust public broadcasting ecosystem—including Radio France and Arte—offers opportunities in live broadcast mixing, location sound recording, and audio post-production for documentary and serialized content.
Emerging Technologies and Creative Innovation
Rapid technological evolution continues to generate opportunities in interactive game audio, VR/AR sound design, immersive installation work, and audio for extended reality experiences. Beyond traditional production roles, graduates also establish careers in audio restoration, acoustical consulting, and technical positions within music technology companies developing next-generation production tools.
