The Certificate in English as a Second Language is a 10-month intensive program running annually from January to October that focuses on all language skills—speaking, listening, reading, writing—blended with immersion in Belizean culture.

In our intensive English program, you can experience life in the US and study academic English to prepare for your university degree or future career. We offer high beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of instruction with 18-20 hours of class per week. You will share classes with students from all over the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, South & Latin America, and the United States. We welcome all students, international and domestic.

How does language influence communication? What role can I play in establishing a dialogue between people of different cultural backgrounds? What languages can I learn to facilitate inter-European or inter-Asian contact? If you find yourself grappling with any of these questions, or wondering how studying can help you to answer them all, language studies might be for you. At MRU, we offer bachelor studies in English for Specific Purposes and the Second Foreign Language – a high-end education of 3 and a half years, perfect for those seeking to enter into the fascinating field of philology and to find work in a multicultural environment.  

The English Foundation Program is not a prerequisite for an EU degree. However, EU is an English-speaking business school and all classes, assignments, exams, lectures and final dissertations are carried out in English. If students need to improve their English to meet EU’s program admission requirements, this specialized program will help them refine their language skills and prepare them for our programs.

We prepare international students for academic success in the college environment. We believe that students learn best in a comfortable classroom environment where they actively participate in class.

The English Foundation Course (Preparatory Year) has been designed for students who wish to study at ELTE or another European university, but do not yet have the necessary level of language competence and study skills to start a BA degree program. With a minimum of 800 contact hours guaranteed, the course can bring you up to speed in as little as two semesters.

Our Semi-Intensive ESL program is designed for students who want a more immersive curriculum with extended study periods. Hollywood College’s Semi-Intensive English classes combine formal instruction with fun, engaging activities that promote a deeper understanding of the English language.

Trevecca’s Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies offers an endorsement in elementary education and an endorsement in English as a second language (ESL), preparing students to be competent and compassionate teachers in grades K-5 and/or to offer ESL instruction in grades K-12.

Trent-ESL is an English for Academic Purposes program designed to meet the needs of international students who require English proficiency in order to progress into an academic post-secondary program at Trent University or beyond.

The degree prepares you to become a teacher who assists students who have learning exceptionalities and/or language needs, and it culminates with observation and teaching experiences in the field.
