A Minor in Construction Management will be awarded to a NewSchool student who completes his or her major course of study successfully and chooses to focus a portion of their elective or additional work in a predefined series of courses. Admission into a course of study for a Minor in Construction Management typically will require the application to and approval of the program chair in which the course of study will be undertaken.

This program also prepares students to work in a traditional office setting as an administrative assistant, office manager, or executive assistant.

Students will analyse the role of a leader in business, with a focus on decision making, management of group dynamics, workplace stress and conflict, motivation of employees, and planning. Effective business communication skills, ethics, and social responsibility are also emphasized.

Their courses draw on what they have learned about power, race, oppression, and privilege (PROP), trauma-informed care, and systems thinking. The Directors Education Program (DEP), jointly developed by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, is offered nationally at Canada’s top business schools. Directors are continually challenged by information gaps, time squeezes and the behavioural dynamics that can be encountered in the boardroom. The ICD-Rotman DEP has been specifically designed to help experienced directors overcome these challenges by introducing activities and processes that assist them in fulfilling their role.

At AIC, we offer two levels of EAP courses (EAP 1 and EAP 2) designed to help students create their own academic success. Each level can operate as a stand-alone course. Using task-based activities and approaches, they concentrate on the academic skills needed for listening, speaking, reading and writing.
