8 Construction Safety Certificate Programs

Make more than a living. Build the future by entering the Trades. This Construction Techniques program is designed to provide you with choices when considering a career in the Skilled Trades sector. It exposes you to a variety of trades allowing you to determine which one interests you the most.

Foundation Learning students have access to an exciting range of specialist resources at the College. With specialist construction workshops for every area you will develop your communication and practical skills. Guided by our expert staff you’ll use our construction workshops to develop your carpentry, bricklaying and plumbing skills with tailored modules. You will be learning in a small group (maximum 12). You will develop your communication and practical skills by taking on three construction trades across the year: building, tiling and wood work. You will also complete a Health and Safety unit.

If you are an aspiring or working tradesperson, our Certificate IV in Building and Construction is your foundation for success. This is your first step toward starting your own business in the construction industry and preparing for the builders registration.

Gain a competitive advantage by being the apprentice every tradesman hopes for, and increase your employment prospects. This qualification covers the basic skills and knowledge required to work in a primary trade within the construction industry. Develop your understanding of building and be exposed to common scenarios you'll experience on the job in this pre-apprenticeship course.

The 10-week Mining Industry Pre-Employment program is delivered in Regina, Saskatoon, and Yorkton. The program includes classroom training, mine site tours, life skills training, career planning, and safety tickets. Students may also complete a two-week practicum at a mine site.

Gain the skills and knowledge you need to become a glazier in both residential and commercial settings. In this qualification, you will learn how to manufacture, process, and install various types of glass and aluminum products. You will learn how to cut glass by hand, process glass with basic machines, perform reglazes, provide first aid, and make measurements and calculations relevant to the industry.

This program is designed to provide students with a broad knowledge of telecommunications maintenance, and modifications are necessary for entry‐level employment as a tower technician. The course includes training and certifications in OSHA‐30, CPR, and First Aid, and Tower Technician.

Put your skills to use and become a specialist in the wall and floor tiling trade. This sought-after trade qualification is suited to someone with an eye for detail and creativity. Tilers work in both the domestic and commercial sectors. You will use a variety of skills to install tiles and natural stone products. TasTAFE will work with your employer to provide you with the required skills.
