6 Biotechnology Degree Programs in Lithuania

With the increasing need for “green” industrial processes that would be both cost-efficient and sustainable, the contemporary world relies on industrial biotechnology experts more than ever. KTU’s master study programme in Industrial Biotechnology focuses on new research areas, which are bridging the competencies’ gap between different science and industry fields: production of bioproducts, synthesis of biologically active compounds, enzyme technology, bioprocess engineering, environmental biotechnology, renewable technology.

The aim of the program “Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Analysis” is to prepare highly qualified biotechnology specialists with knowledge of biotechnology and pharmaceutical analysis, able to develop, optimize and implement fermentation processes, and genetic engineering technologies, analyze and optimize separation and purification processes, able to properly perform qualitative and quantitative evaluation of analytes or continue doctoral studies.

The aim of Biotechnology undergraduate programme is to empower specialists to develop intellectual competencies in order to be capable to participate in research advancements, to take responsibility for research and practice developments as well as disseminating knowledge.

Biotechnology is one of the most rapidly growing field in both industry and research. That is why graduates of this program will continue to be busy for a very long time. A junction between two different worlds of nature and technology, where unexpected solutions are found and innovative bioproducts are created.

The aim of the program is to prepare the professionals that possess the advanced knowledge and skills in both biotechnology and materials science by combining the desing and problem-solving skills of engineering with the ones of biomedical sciences and are capable of using the acquired knowledge while solving practical problems in the biomedically oriented scientific research.

This programme aims to train professionals who would like to experience what studying at a doctorate level might be like, whilst at the same time allowing them to earn a valuable Master’s-level qualification for a career in the industry. The programme’s unique features include studies based on individual interdisciplinary specialisations according to the students’ interests, through projects in laboratories and individual contact hours (mentoring).
