Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy study programmes at Tresham College are consistently some of our most popular at the College. Our experienced team of tutors will work to develop your professional skills, taking you from the core techniques through to the latest technological advancements in hairdressing and beauty therapy. Tresham Studios, our commercial hairdressing, barbering, make-up and beauty salons, operate at Corby and Kettering Campuses.

Work placement is an integral part of the programme and you will have the opportunity to work in industry as part of your learning. After successfully completing this course you'll have the skills needed to apply for a salon assistant.

This course is for anyone starting in Hair and Beauty therapy and wants an understanding of the industry to succeed in a job in the area or move on to further study.

This intermediate apprenticeship programme will cover the essential skills and knowledge needed to be a junior basic hairstylist. The course will equip you with the ability to offer a wide range of hair services to clients and will consist of two years of study.

Women’s and Men’s Hairdressing is a fast-moving, fashion orientated industry, where your creative and artistic flair can be explored.

The Level 1 Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector program will give you an insight into the different elements of hair, beauty, hair, and makeup.

This course is designed for 16-19 year olds. Our Hairdressing course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to access the Hair / Media Industry. Once you have completed your hands-on hairdressing training, you will be industry ready.

This college intends to prepare Barber students with the necessary skills to meet the demand of the industry through exposure to practical, theoretical, and hands-on experience, safety and sanitary precautions, salon management, and state laws and first aid.

The skills you learn within this qualification will put you closer to studying a business, management or marketing degree.

The BARBER/STYLIST postsecondary instructional program prepares individuals to cut, colour, perm, shampoo, and style hair. Students are also instructed on the proper techniques for facial massaging and shaving. Special attention is given to hygiene, safety, skin, scalp diseases, and equipment sterilization.

This course will interest you if you enjoy using your creative ideas in a practical way. You should also like working with other people and discussing how best to produce the looks you want to achieve. You should be prepared to participate as a model for fellow students which will require you to have your hair washed and blow-dried, make up removed and applied and also have your fingernails and toenails painted.

This SVQ is suitable for: Individuals who are currently in employment as a junior stylist and wish to obtain a formal qualification. Employees who wish to obtain short, continuing professional development courses. As the SVQ is a competency based qualification the following applies:
