28 Barbering Preparatory Programs

This program prepares students for licensing as a Barber. The Barbering program requires 1000 hours of comprehensive training in all facets of the Barbering Industry. Courses focus on theoretical fundamentals, practical manipulative skills, business knowledge, career development in the field, and the professional and ethical training needed for licensing through the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.

The Department of Cosmetology and Barbering includes associate degree and certificate programs which are designed to provide the necessary skills

Barbering techniques include cutting, styling and trimming hair for both men and women as well as shaving and maintaining facial hair for men. Students will also learn the basics of customer service, reception and salon management.

In this qualification, you will gain the skills and knowledge to be employed as a creative barber, working as part of a team in a Barbering and Hair Salon environment.

The CG Diploma in Barbering Level 2 helps you develop the skills, knowledge, and experience to gain a Level 2 qualification and become a practising barber.

Delmar is proud to offer Government recognized Barber Training. Successful completion of our 525 Hour barbering program will not only give you the skills and knowledge needed to pass the apprenticeship exams but these hours are included as your required technical training. All of our staff are certified Red Seal journeypersons with many years of experience in the trade.

This qualification reflects the role of barbers who use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of barbering services to clients. They use discretion and judgement to provide client services and take responsibility for the outcomes of their own work.

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in the creative art of cutting men's hair, the specialist work of cutting facial hair and how to offer a good consultation service for clients.

This certificate program is designed to provide Cosmetology students with the necessary knowledge and skills required by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations for licensure.

In this course, you will have the opportunity to develop your sales and consultation skills, as well as specialist technical barbering skills including cutting hair using freehand clipper techniques, designing and maintaining beards and mustaches, and shaving heads and faces. You’ll also learn how to provide men’s general grooming services, identify and treat hair and scalp conditions, as well as how to create graduated and layered haircut structures, and how cut hair using over-comb techniques.

This course has been specifically designed for you to continue to develop your practical and creative barbering skills to an advanced level. During this course you will learn a variety of techniques to creatively cut men's hair and understand the intricate work of creating facial hair designs, including using a blade to outline cuts and facial hair, along with wet shaving. You will also learn how to promote, market and plan the financial effectiveness of your business.

Hairdressing isn’t learned from textbooks; it’s learned in the salon. As a student in this program, you’ll have the opportunity to work with real clients in our student salon.
