The Visual Arts Major offers a multidisciplinary education in the arts with advanced study in one specialization such as drawing and painting. To begin your studies, you can take courses in art history, art and technology, 3-D modeling and animation, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and video.

Majors work towards the development of a cohesive body of work that demonstrates a distinctive personal style. The program emphasizes the mastery of a broad range of fundamental skills, with a focused experience in one technique or medium. Majors are well versed in historical and contemporary art and are given numerous opportunities to exhibit their work, travel, and receive feedback from faculty and peers.

Visual arts are a necessary and vital part of contemporary society. The Louisiana Christian University Art Department trains students to have a positive Christian impact on society by providing a serious study of the visual arts in all its forms and contexts so that they may more fully dialogue with the professional art world. A series of studio, lecture, and seminar courses provide a learning environment for students which nurtures their technical and philosophical skills in a distinctively Christian and academically rigorous environment. These studies develop the aptitudes within students which prepare them for either graduate school or entering directly into the art and design marketplace.

The program begins with 18 months of rigorous training in drawing, composition, painting, sculpting, and anatomy to ensure students have the foundational skill set to pursue their artistic expression. From there, our instructors work with students to develop their unique artistic abilities, focusing on digital media to help them master the advanced design concepts and storytelling skills for entertainment art.

For non-art majors interested in a career in Animation or preparation for graduate study in Animation, the Animation Minor offers broad-based training in this field of art.
