16 Technology and Engineering Preparatory Programs

Wallace State Community College’s Engineering Technology program provides a pathway to give you opportunities to see exactly where you fit in the engineering world.

The Engineering Technology program provides students with skills as they relate to computer-aided drafting, surveying (Civil, Geomatics), Solid Modeling and CNC Machining (Mechanical option), and other similar skill sets. In addition, the program offers a background in mathematics (through trigonometry), physics, communications, writing, and design concepts.

For students seeking advanced skills, the Engineering Technology degrees build on the foundation provided by the first-year certificate. Students acquire advanced skills in computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), composites technology, and automation. Students will culminate their studies with an advanced project incorporating the four disciplines in the AAS degree. With this degree, students should be able to find employment as advanced CNC technicians, CAD technicians, and maintenance professionals.

In this program, you will learn to build, evaluate, test, troubleshoot, service, and repair electronic devices, from the component level to the system level. The program offers four pathways: Applications, Avionics, Mechatronics, and Biomedical Equipment.

The Applied Engineering Technology curriculum prepares individuals to use basic engineering principles and technical skills to solve technical problems in various types of industry. Course work emphasizes analytical and problem-solving skills. The curriculum includes courses in safety, math, physics, electricity, engineering technology, and technology-specific specialty areas. Graduates should qualify for employment in a wide range of positions in research and development, manufacturing, sales, design, inspection, or maintenance. Employment opportunities exist in automation, computer, electrical, industrial, or mechanical engineering fields, where graduates will function as engineering technicians.

Our School puts exciting industry-leading technology into your hands. We have commercial flight simulators and supersonic wind tunnels, so you can fly a variety of aircraft, even ones you’ve designed yourself. We have a Formula One driving simulator and a manufacturing fabrication workshop on campus. You will take advantage of laboratories dedicated to system-on-chip technology, smart systems, material properties and testing, media technology and digital broadcasting. EEA PYP EEA Professional Year Program The NIT Difference NIT’s Professional Year Program in partnership with Engineering Education Australia (EEA) is an exciting program designed to equip recent Engineering graduates with helpful skills. This prepares them for their career in the Engineering sector while paving the migration pathway for those seeking to make Australia their new home.

This program combines electronic, mechanical, thermal, computer, automation and photonic technologies. It provides students with a hands-on approach in which they not only learn about science and technology, but also apply what they are learning. It is the only Engineering Technologies program of its kind in Quebec. Small classes give students the opportunity to work one-on-one with faculty while exploring the rapidly evolving fields of applied engineering technologies. Courses will be given on the John Abbott campus with opportunities to use the OPTECH Montreal facilities situated at Cegep Andre-Laurendeau.
