8 Technical Production Preparatory Programs

This course is designed by professionals who are experts in their fields, including radio, film, television, design and print. Our aim is to inspire the next generation by developing and nurturing talent, as well as supporting a thorough understanding of how the industry works.

This course emphasizes how production proceeds in the digital age-from idea to image-and how it moves through the three major phases, from preproduction to production to postproduction. In this context, students will learn about the necessary tools, examine what they can and cannot do, and explore how they are used to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. This course will go over the latest digital equipment and production techniques, including stereo 3D, 3D camcorders, 4K and 8K digital cinema cameras, portable switchers, LED lighting instruments, and digital lighting control systems.

This course will go over the organizational aspects of a TV or film production such as scheduling and budgeting and assisting producers to interpret and realize the directors' vision. Students will learn: self-organization and systems to use, budgets, schedules and cost control, cash flow, hiring and firing, contracts, insurance, health and safety, setting up an efficient and cost-effective shoot, dealing with contributors, acquiring copyright, sourcing CGI, editors, music cue sheets, deliverables, people skills and ethics.

This course will provide you with a strong understanding of the various aspects of performing arts. You will work with specialised staff with industry experience and carry out practical work in the theatre, practice studios and dance studio. As part of the course students will take part in various performances to their peers and outside audiences. Past performances have included Devised original work using themes based around current issues, “Secret Cinema” style performances and scripted work, such as “Two” by Jim Cartwright. Students will also have the opportunity to experience working as part of a production team and undertake roles such as lighting, sound and production design.

We offer the Heavy Equipment Technician - Pre-Employment program at Keyano College. This program will give you the skills needed to succeed in an entry level position, leading to a career. The Heavy Equipment Technician - Pre-Employment program will provide you with a solid academic foundation and refreshment in the areas of trades related science, mathematics, report writing and employability skills. This program also provides technical training. Completing this program will equip you with the technical knowledge and skills of a first year Heavy Equipment Technician. You will also have obtained many safety certifications required to work in the industry.

At NYFA Australia's youth and teen Film camps, students learn how to create their own films and tell engaging stories through a balance of short projects, time spent on sets, and coursework.

The Five-Week Intensive focus is on storytelling and developing the skill sets necessary to translate the written page onto the screen.
