This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to plan, design, manage and monitor an enterprise information and communications technology (ICT) network as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team responsible for advanced ICT network security systems.

Certificate III in Technical Security is a qualification for experienced security technicians who sell, install, repair, service, and maintain security equipment and systems that protect people and property, and prevent or minimize loss and damage. Technicians at this level operate independently and use discretion and judgment to plan and implement client requirements for installation, repair, service, and maintenance of security equipment and systems.

This qualification, as described in the CPP Property Service Training Package, equips individuals with the entry level occupational licensing requirements for the security Industry in Victoria.Australian College of Trade delivers this training for licensing purposes as a holder of Private Security Business License for the license activity of Private Security Trainer.

Certificate II in Technical Security is a qualification for security technicians who sell, install, repair, service and maintain security equipment and systems that protect people and property and prevent or minimize loss and damage. Technicians at this level operate under general supervision and interact with clients to perform installation, repair, service and maintenance tasks at client premises.

Installers must develop a knowledge of the range of equipment, including electronic and electrical surveillance systems and closed-circuit TV, as well as knowledge of simple electronic principles and terminating techniques. They must also understand the principles of operation and characteristics of controllers, detectors, relays, bells, sirens, screamers, and telephone circuits.
