6 Physiotherapy Preparatory Programs

Respiratory therapists work with patients of all ages to evaluate, monitor and treat breathing disorders and cardiovascular problems, such as asthma and emphysema. This may include administering oxygen, measuring lung function, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergencies, or managing mechanical ventilators. The 2-year Respiratory Therapy program leads to an Associate in Applied Sciences degree, Respiratory Therapy. Program graduates are eligible to take the Therapist Multiple Choice (TMC) examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care to earn certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). Students may then become eligible to take the Clinical Simulation to earn their Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.

The Respiratory Therapy Program, which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC), is designed to train students to function as Respiratory Therapists.

The Physiotherapy Techniques (physical rehabilitation) DEC aims to train health professionals. You will learn how to provide rehabilitative care to people with musculoskeletal and neurological system problems using a variety of means such as manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, electrotherapy, etc.

Athletic Therapy this certificate is a 3 year program and can be earned in conjunction with the Bachelor of Arts BA or Bachelor of Science BSc options in Kinesiology & Health Science. Athletic Therapy specializes in the prevention, evaluation and management of neuromusculoskeletal injuries (muscles, bones and joints, etc.) and medical conditions as they relate to athletics and physical activity to help athletes return to their sport or patients to return to an active lifestyle.
