Vancouver Island University is a signatory to the BC Common First-Year Engineering Curriculum (CFYEC). The Engineering Transfer Diploma provides a pathway into engineering studies at Simon Fraser University, Thompson Rivers University, the University of Northern British Columbia, the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria, and the University of Alberta.

The Engineering Certificate program provides students with a comprehensive first-year university transfer program in engineering and is aimed at strong academic high school graduates and highly motivated post-secondary science students. In this one-year certificate, you'll take an introduction to engineering course and courses in technical drafting and CAD, engineering design and materials science.

Students interested in the certificate must apply to the Engineering Transfer Diploma. Prior to starting classes in September students must indicate their interest in exiting with their Engineering Transfer Certificate. Upon successful completion of the first year (40 credits), students will be eligible to receive the Engineering Transfer Certificate.

The mining industry is dynamic and ever-changing, and Cambrian’s Mining Engineering Technician program will challenge you to explore why and how things work and to find innovative solutions to problems. As you learn and live in one of the mining centres of the world, you will prepare to become part of mining engineering teams responsible for a wide range of projects involving surveying, drafting, design, environmental studies, industrial geological and geophysical fieldwork, ventilation, ground control, and supervision.

Capilano University's Engineering Transition Diploma program provides mature students a pathway to obtain an applied science degree, en route to becoming professional engineers. The program also caters to recent high school graduates who lack the prerequisites for entry into a traditional engineering program. Successful completion of this program ensures that students who transfer to an engineering degree program at another institution in British Columbia typically require only three additional years of study to complete their degree.
