6 Documentary Studies Preparatory Programs

Each year, 15 individuals are given the opportunity to co-direct a 60-minute documentary with OTOXO Productions to be screened on BTV. Simultaneously, participants are provided with an intensive nine-month training course covering all elements of documentary studies and production. Following this, the participants are given three months of training focused on becoming film industry professionals, whilst at the same time, they follow these steps and become film industry professionals in their own right.

For one month each year, 15 selected participants co-direct a series of 3-5 minute documentaries with OTOXO Productions. These shorts are distributed to festivals & media outlets around the world and streamed on the OTOXO platform. For these reasons alone we demand the highest quality of work from our participants and provide them with the highest quality of training to ensure it.

If you have an idea for a documentary and want to turn your dream into reality, this intensive, 6-week course will provide the grounding you need to transform your initial concept into a gripping factual film. With hands-on training from practising documentary professionals, you will gain all the skills you need and make your own collaborative documentary ready to pitch and package to the industry.

We're meeting the needs of emerging documentary filmmakers in a rapidly changing industry. In the Documentary Certificate program, you'll build the skills to produce, direct, write and edit documentaries or specialized productions under award-winning filmmakers' mentorship. You'll understand how production cycles work, from story concept and development to pre-production, production, post-production, distribution, and marketing phases.

The Documentary Film Program at Prague Film School aims at creating an independent documentary filmmaker. Through intensive practical and theoretical work, each student learns how to adapt the narrative tools of drama to tell truthful stories about the real world that simultaneously entertain, educate, and inspire audiences. The course is designed to develop professional-level production and post-production skills.
