The Summer Course in International Criminal Justice course aims to familiarize students with the intricate nature of international crimes, their perpetrators, and the responses of the international community. This one-of-a-kind course takes a multidisciplinary approach to the challenges that emerge in the field of international criminal justice.

This certificate in Corrections provides students with the knowledge and exposure to the legal considerations and best practices of correctional administration while also preparing students for the fundamental professional principles within the field of corrections. Students pursuing this certificate will be introduced and exposed to the history of correctional systems in the United States along with the current system and the needs of the future within community corrections. Students will learn and demonstrate proficiency in the legal aspects of the correctional system and obtain the working knowledge required of professionals looking for entry-level positions within the corrections field.

The Corrections degree and certificate program provides preparatory instruction necessary for persons who wish entry into four-year institutions for careers as Correctional Officers, Counselors, or Probation and Parole Officers with federal, state, and county agencies. Entry-level employment may be available after satisfactory completion of the AA degree or certificate requirements.

Our program includes instruction in criminal law, evidence collection and preservation, report writing, institutional corrections, physical agility training, defensive tactics, and weaponless defense.

The A.A. degree in Corrections/Probation provides the foundational education required for an individual's career entry into the criminal justice field, specifically correctional operations and probation/parole case investigations.

The Criminal Justice Program is designed to prepare students for transfer and exciting career opportunities in pre-law, law enforcement, or corrections.

Interested in a career in Corrections or Law Enforcement? Our Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice provides students with a basic foundation of the American criminal justice and corrections systems.

The Administration of Justice program prepares students for careers in law enforcement or corrections, such as police officer, detective, and parole officer.

While SDCC does not currently have an Administration of Justice program, we offer a couple of classes that you can use as associate degree electives. These courses will introduce you to the Criminal Justice System's functions, including administrative aspects of law enforcement, the court system, and the corrections system.

Joliet Junior College’s Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice is a liberal arts-based transfer degree that prepares students for careers in corrections, legal services, fraud investigation, private and government security, and other vital fields that assure the safety and security of all citizens.

STUDENTS GRADUATING WITH DEGREES IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE WILL: 1. Know the judicial system of the nation. 2. Know those conditions and circumstances that can prevent criminal behaviour. 3. Understand the factors leading to rehabilitating offenders. 4. Be prepared for employment opportunities in various criminal justice fields, including law enforcement, law probation, juvenile services, private security, public administration/planning, counselling, research, regulatory agencies, and law.

This course is intended to provide correctional staff with an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a probation officer. Fundamental philosophies and policies of the BC Corrections Branch, in relation to the duties and responsibilities of a probation officer will also be looked at while working as agents of change. The learner will acquire the basic skills to perform core duties, including an initial intake on both bail and sentenced clients. The learner will also understand the administration of court orders including submitting breaches and applying for court order variations. Focus will be placed on learning the operational requirements needed to complete the most basic duties of a probation officer.
