The Business and Climate Change: Towards Net Zero Emissions online short course from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) provides a comprehensive understanding of how to mitigate the business risks of climate change and oversee a transition to net-zero emissions for long-term resilience and overall value. Over eight weeks online, you’ll explore real-world examples of successful low carbon initiatives and discover how to utilize innovation to build a resilient, profitable business model for the future, stimulating a ‘triple bottom line’ of people, profit, and the planet. On completion of this course, you’ll walk away with a practical action plan to transition to net-zero emissions and the ability to lead change within your organization and beyond.

In ECLIRE - The Ethics of Climate Change: Reshaping Responsibilities for Present and Future Generations the seasonal school aims to train participants on the ethics of climate change through a triple perspective: individual, global and intergenerational. It will also do so by opening up to disciplines beyond political and moral philosophy, such as political science, metaphysics, sociology and economics.

In WAT-CHANGE - Water-Related Ecosystem Services for Adapting Societies to Climate Change Seasonal School aims at introducing the participants to the new growing area of solutions provided by water-related ecosystem services. In particular, we will deal with nature-based solutions for water supply, treatment of polluted water, and flood risk mitigation such as managed aquifer recharge, river restoration, constructed wetlands, sustainable drainage systems, and remediation of contaminated sites using phytoremediation techniques.

Global warming can enhance local extreme weather conditions, which in turn can affect the frequency of geohazards such as landslides, avalanches and flooding. This course provides you with a broad understanding of the interaction between atmospheric and Earth's surface processes that control the occurrence of potentially catastrophic geohazardous events.

This e-learning course is developed and implemented jointly with the Frankfurt School - UNEP Collaborating Cente. The Paris Agreement marks the beginning of a new era with the focus shifting from finding a consensus on the common goals to realizing jointly agreed goals. “Making finance flows consistent with a pathway towards low greenhouse gas emissions and climate-resilient development” (Article 2 c of the Paris Agreement) will require a significant increase in funding – with new instruments and approaches required to mobilize a broad range of investors and to achieve scalability in financing climate action. Financing the global energy transition will be one key building block. Decreasing prices for renewables combined with increasing regulatory risk for traditional fossil fuels make Renewable Energy (RE) more competitive and attractive for commercial investors.

The Environmental Education and Climate Change course is located in the third semester and its purposes are: To provide relevant information that allows making conscious and reasoned decisions regarding the relationship between human beings and the environment. Promote a less consumerist vision that allows professional development associated with the teaching work of normal students. Strengthen the capacity of future teachers to recognize themselves as part of the environmental problem and the process for its transformation and solution through environmental education.
