CADA’s Games, Animation and VFX education is created for anyone who wants to move from interest to practical skill in the digital visual industry. If you want to begin your journey in 3D, explore animation and CGI, understand the technical side of game and film production or refine your current abilities, CADA gives you a structured way to progress.

Berkeley City College’s A.A. degree in Animation and Game Design prepares students for entry-level jobs in the game and animation fields and provides upgraded skills for those already employed in multimedia and game jobs. The program is interdisciplinary and focuses on developing artistic, animation, critical thinking, and computer skills.

This program prepares individuals to communicate information, entertainment and ideas through animation and cinematic arts. This includes practical, hands-on instruction in how to plan and produce a variety of animated works seeing the project through from concept to practice including but not limited to storyboarding, directing, editing, and all aspects of animation film production.

Interested in a career in animation, multimedia, or game design and development? Join our Animation and Game Art program and learn to use industry-standard traditional and digital visual development methodologies, computer software, and hardware technology. Students will graduate with a firm foundation in the visual arts.

Are you an animation fanatic? The kind of person who hates waking up to an alarm clock for school but can always jump out of bed for Saturday morning cartoons? Does “taking notes” in class mean constantly doodling and day-dreaming about far-away fantasy worlds and colourful characters? If so, 2D Animation & Digital Art is the program for you!

This 10-month diploma program provides students with the skills necessary for a career as a 2D and 3D animator, modeller, texture artist, in a typical animation/ art department within the fields of television animation and mobile/ interactive video games. Building on the design skills and animation basics learned in the Video Game Art program, our TV & Game Animation students will learn to bring their designs to life through dynamic and entertaining 2D and 3D animation.

The Animation Minor focuses on facilitating the development of original creators in the conceptualization and creation of digital and analog forms of expression in graphically created motion art works, be it an animated short, transmedia exploration, spreadable media, narrative sequential art, gallery installation, or one of the many other applications of motion art.

The Animation Diploma program focuses on drawing, design and the principles and techniques of traditional and digital character animation, using the latest technology in state-of-the-art facilities. The two-year Animation diploma program focuses on drawing, design and the principles and techniques of traditional and digital character animation. There is an optional Co-op work term offered between year 1 and year 2 of the program subject to industry availability.

The Department of Film and Media’s new Certificate in Animation Theory and Practice offers students a unique and innovative opportunity to study animation in an interdisciplinary context that embraces hybrid, experimental approaches to the art form and fosters the innovative analysis of animated media from Classical Hollywood and Studio Ghibli to experimental and VR/AR animation. Students can take a wide variety of courses in animation history, theory and production.

The Minor in Animation & Motion Media is designed to give you a solid foundation in the conceptual and technical aspects of animation and motion media art. Furthermore, it offers you a set of elective courses that allow you to explore the rich field of animation, experimental motion media, gaming, digital video special effects and more. It is important that you meet with the department chair initially to help you map out the best set of elective courses that fits your interests and abilities.

Storytelling is at the heart of animation, which brings worlds and characters to life. The Animation emphasis within CCS’s Entertainment Arts program explores both the theoretical and the technical sides of character performance, design, story and world-building in a mixed visual medium. Through courses and mentorships with faculty—many of whom currently work in the animation industry-you’ll build an understanding of the production pipeline for feature and television animation, games and advertising.

The UFSC Animation Program was established in 2015, but its history dates back to 2009, when the Bachelor’s in Design in Animation was created. It was proposed after a study about the ongoing program, whose conclusion was that, seen as an area of Design, Animation was losing expressiveness. A commission was then assigned to carry out a further study for the restructuring of the degree.

The Associate degree in Animation program is a comprehensive study of the skills necessary to create 2D or 3D digital animation for the entertainment industry. The required coursework begins with the Animation Foundation Certificate of Achievement, combining a solid foundation in animation history and visual storytelling with hands-on experience in digital animation pre-production and production processes.
