By the university’s vision and philosophy as well as the mission of the College of Humanities and Sciences, the Department aims to prepare and train teachers for the intermediate stage (6-8) and the secondary stage (9-12). The Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching gets its goals from the program’s mission, which reflects the educational philosophy that the University adopts.

The Postgraduate Certificate in International Teacher is open to all qualified teachers who share their passion for coaching children and young adults in international educational contexts. During this one-year part-time program in evening and weekend classes, we will create cross-border learning and teaching environments to explore, challenge, and broaden your personal and professional horizons.

The PG Dip provides a comprehensive teacher education course fostering academic rigour as well as practical understanding and application of theories. The approach integrates academic theory with a well-supported teaching practice. UCL Institute of Education (IOE) is working in partnership with the Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS). The IIS offers a Secondary Teacher Education Programme (STEP) to train prospective and practising teachers in Ismaili schools worldwide in the IIS secondary curriculum. Applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma shall be required to apply via IIS using the relevant application processes of IIS for the STEP Programme.
