21 Social Science Master's Degree Programs in South Africa

The objective of this module is to equip students with a thorough understanding of the legal and policy aspects of natural resources and the regulation of natural resources and industries to extract natural resources.

This Program offers the student with a four-year BDiv, a BThHons or equivalent qualification, the opportunity of theological specialisation and research at master's level. The MPhil in Social Policy and Development is an interdisciplinary Master's coursework and research program that is intended to build your knowledge and practice capacity in developing and analyzing social policies and interventions intended to address social development challenges at the national, community, and household level in South Africa and the Southern African region. The course will also have applicability to other development contexts.

Master of Laws degree by Coursework is awarded once a student has successfully completed courses in research methodology, three 30-credit modules prescribed for the particular programme, the submission of a research proposal and the submission of a mini-dissertation. 

The MConSci Consumer Science is a full-time masters program run by the University of Pretoria. The Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences offers postgraduate degree programs at honors, master's and doctoral level. The University of Pretoria is a center of excellence for postgraduate training in the natural, agricultural and mathematical sciences, and produce a significant number of master's- and doctoral graduates each year.

Bachelor's degree in Social work or relevant honours degree

SOC 751 and GNR 751 or SOC 756 or similar modules in research methodology, gender studies and/or social theory are required.

At least two years appropriate practice experience.

Depending on the academic background of the student and the chosen area of study, it may be required of the student to do additional coursework.

A compulsory module in research methodology, namely MWT 864, must be passed.
