The "Advanced Computing Systems" master's program focuses on training highly skilled professionals in the field of advanced computing. This English-language master’s programme trains specialists capable of designing intelligent systems, and of exploiting distributed and high-performance computing infrastructures.

Interdisciplinary Computing is the first interdisciplinary technical master’s program at IT:U. Its educational approach is deeply rooted in project-based, personalized learning. As a student, you will study at the intersection of computing and various disciplines. You develop your knowledge and skills in a vibrant, international environment, whilst learning in small groups to gain the experience for a future job in industry or to follow an academic career.

High Performance Computing (HPC) enables scientists and engineers to solve complex scientific, engineering, and even business problems, using applications that require high bandwidth, advanced networks, and very large computational or data analysis capabilities. The professionals who are trained in this specialization have the knowledge and skills needed by companies and institutions with R+D+i centers that want or need to incorporate emerging technologies. HPC is related to topics as fashionable as multicore processors (formerly specific to large computer equipment, but today present in PCs, tablets or mobile phones), cloud computing (cloud computing) or the so-called Big Data.

Do you wonder how you can optimise the performance of the electricity network? How you can use hospital data to improve patient care? Or how you can develop correct and efficient software? During our two-year Research Master’s programme Computing Science, you will learn the advanced methods that help solve these questions.

We are currently witnessing the start of the quantum industrial revolution. In 2023 the Danish government launched a new strategy to enhance quantum technology and NATO launched a center for quantum technology in Denmark. A Danish quantum internet is under development, and it will connect selected geographical locations, including the University of Southern Denmark. The quantum internet will be launched in 2025.

It is an area of engineering that addresses all aspects related to the conception, design, implementation, and operation of computer systems and the integration of information and communication technologies (ICT) in organizational environments.

The Computational Materials Science master’s programme prepares you for a career at the cutting edge of materials development. This is an area where computer simulations and algorithms play a critical and expanding role. New and improved materials will form the basis for new technologies. Through this programme, you can contribute to overcoming the many daunting challenges regarding materials that industry and the greater society face.

The study branch Discrete models and algorithms offers wide education in theoretical and mathematical fundaments of computer science. The student obtains knowledge in the area of discrete models and related algorithmic and data techniques and various mathematical methods for their design. The study familiarizes the student both with the last results on discrete models, algorithms, and optimization and with possibilities and limitations in solving related algorithmic questions. The students acquire the thorough mathematical knowledge necessary for the analysis and design of discrete models and algorithms. The students can apply their skills in practice or can continue in the Ph.D. study of computer science or related areas.

The program offers up-to-date knowledge in areas of applied mathematics related to modeling with partial differential equations.

Computer vision is the ability to see in machines, that is, to extract the spatiotemporal structure of images/videos in order to fully interpret a scene. It is a field in which abundant research activity is carried out, but it is not only about research. Computer vision technologies have the potential to contribute to well-being, economic growth and environmental sustainability faster and at lower cost than ever before.

This master's program focuses on deeper knowledge of various mathematical disciplines and their algorithmic aspects. The student can specialize either in Mathematics for Information Security or in Computer Geometry. Mathematics for Information Security focuses on deepening theoretical knowledge of number theory, probability theory, theory of boolean functions, complexity theory, theory of elliptic curves, and computer algebra applied to some of these subjects. Attention is also given to practical aspects such as internet security, standards in cryptography, and legal aspects of data security. Computer Geometry deepens theoretical knowledge in various algebraic and geometric subjects together with their applications in the geometry of computer vision and robotics, computer graphics and image processing, optimization methods, and relevant applications of numerical linear algebra.
