The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s online Master of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Mathematics Education degree is tailored for secondary school educators. Our program also welcomes mathematics teachers seeking the necessary preparation to teach mathematics in post-secondary settings such as community colleges as well as those wanting to deepen their knowledge of the research on teaching and learning specific to secondary (grades 6-16) mathematics.

The minimum duration for this degree is one year. Subject to other faculty regulations, a student for a master's degree must complete his or her studies within three years after first registering for the degree. Under special circumstances, the Dean, on the recommendation of the head of department, may give approval for a limited fixed extension of this period.
