Our MA Inclusion (Special Educational Needs) equips you with essential skills and deep understanding of SEND policies and practices. This flexible, part-time distance learning course offers global perspectives and expert-led modules, enabling you to make a meaningful impact in inclusive education while advancing your career in this rewarding field.

The Special and Inclusive Education MA will develop students' knowledge of special educational needs (SEN) and inclusive education. Students will be introduced to cutting-edge theory and research and consider how it links to policy and practice. The MA will appeal to those looking to develop their professional practice, progress to further study about disability, inclusive education, and educational policy, and/or progress to doctoral study. The MA also has two specialist routes in Autism and Specific Learning Difficulties.

The MA program prepares candidates to assume advanced roles in the field of Special Education. Current research and best practices in the field of Special Education underpin the curriculum. The program consists of a core of advanced coursework, electives, and a culminating experience (thesis or comprehensive exam) that support advance study in the field of Special Education. There are 30 units of course work with a minimum of 21 semester units completed in residence. Candidates who apply to both the Master of Arts Degree and the Clear credential must adhere to the requirements for both programs (e.g., GPA and course grade requirements).

Special Education program empowers individuals who have already completed the Graduate Certificate in Teaching Special Education (K-12): Adapted Curriculum or Special Education (K-12) General Curriculum to advance their skills and knowledge and qualify for the M-level North Carolina Professional Educator’s License.

Get certified to teach special education in Georgia with Brenau University's online Master of Arts in Teaching: Special Education. Finish your program in five semesters, gain valuable field experience, and complete a concentration alongside your degree. A background in education is not required – we accept students with a bachelor's degree in any field. When you graduate, you'll be ready to take the Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators (GACE) exam and start your teaching career.

This route within the Master's in Special and Inclusive Education focuses on Specific Learning Difficulties (dyslexia)/literacy difficulties. Students will be introduced to cutting-edge theory and research and consider how it links to policy and practice. This MA will appeal to students looking to consolidate and enhance their knowledge; develop their professional practice and/or progress to doctoral study or employment in this specialist field.

This programme will develop students’ understanding of best practices in SEND and inclusive education provision. Students will gain an understanding of local and international SEND provisions, strategies and policies. Additionally, the wider socio-cultural influences on SEND provision, including the influence of cultural and historical context will be explored. Students will be able to evaluate the resources and support required for children with special education needs and disabilities and plan inclusive education in the classroom. Also, students will be able to design, communicate, implement, and manage inclusive provisions for an educational institution. As part of this programme, the student will critically analyze research and evidence in SEND practice, policy, and implementation, and be able to present and explain policy and best practices in inclusive education in local and international contexts. Finally, students will be encouraged to develop leadership and management skills related to SEND coordination, delivery, partnership and management.

Using the M.A. track offered at the Melton Centre as a strong base, we have developed a blended On-Site and Distance MA Program (non-research intended for students’ resident overseas) in Jewish Education, which is offered to Jewish educators in Jewish communities around the world.
