7 Language MA Degree Programs in China

Zhejiang University (ZJU) is the first in China to grant a master's degree in China Studies approved by the Ministry of Education. Compared to similar programs in the country, the Master of China Studies (MCS) program has the largest enrollment, with the most complete curriculum and the most extensive international cooperation. It is a model brand of ZJU in high-level international education. In November 2014, the Zhejiang University Institute of China Studies (ICS) was established.

With the rise of China as a global economic power there is an increasing demand among organisations and companies from around the world for professionals with knowledge of China’s political, economic and social systems, who can also speak Chinese.

The MA TESOL programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop both a scholarly and practical understanding of the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

This master's program has been developed for students holding a B.A. degree in Economics, Business Administration or equivalent qualification who want to specialize in China business and economics. Next to classes that offer an in-depth analysis of China’s economy and approaches to doing business with China, students will learn the Chinese language and take classes in Chinese Studies. In addition, senior language classes will empower students to understand and discuss economic texts in the Chinese language. Methodological classes prepare students to use their economic and Chinese study knowledge for academic research as well as for solving business problems.

The School of International Chinese Studies at East China Normal University accepts applications from international students interested in pursuing a 3-year research-oriented program for a Master degree in Literature. The program is based on ECNU’s main campus in Shanghai. Our program focus is on Chinese literature and culture, and we encourage comparative studies between China and other cultures as we strongly believe that literary and cultural dialogue is very necessary for the world.

The objective of this specialty program is to produce a new, creative type of talented person who has physical and psychological well-being and with full development of morality, wisdom, physique and aesthetics, who has a good moral character and professional quality, and is a law-abiding citizen.

This research-oriented Master’s program in Chinese Studies has been developed for graduates of B.A. programs in the Chinese Studies field (holding a B.A. in Sinology, Chinese Studies or equivalent qualification). It offers in-depth and small-group instruction in Chinese Studies by recognized experts in various fields. Students will take classes on both pre-modern and contemporary subjects but will select one of these fields as their specialization. Students’ preferences for particular topics will be taken into account in determining the content of required elective classes. Their research capabilities are strengthened through continuous methodology classes. This enables students to build up their expertise and enables them to undertake their own research in their master thesis.
