About

BC program “Chemistry” (language of instruction – English) is an analogy of a joint program of San Diego State University and Tbilisi State University, implemented at TSU since 2015. The program is developed based on the standards and requirements of the American Chemical Society and the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement of Georgia. On August 18, 2023, the program received ACS Recognition and it is 4th internationally recognized program. An educational program is created with consideration of all theoretical and practical courses that are necessary to obtain relevant qualification

TSU has up to 400 institutional partners, among them universities and research centers, in 56 countries;

In 2015-2021, 364 projects with the participation of TSU were financed through the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility program; in 2020-2022, 107 projects were financed through a partnership with more than 100 universities in 29 European countries.

TSU was a leader in the South Caucasus region and Georgia from 2015 to 2021 by the number of students and staff who studied at European Universities and raised their qualifications there. More than 2,500 mobility projects involving students and academic personnel from TSU and partner European universities were carried out during that period.

TSU is collaborating with 26 universities in 10 Asian countries;

TSU annually participates in Asia Science Camp in various Asian countries (Japan, Singapore, Israel, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.);

TSU offers 24 foreign-language programs – BA, MA, PhD, and one-step educational programs, including internationally accredited BA programs in Public Administration and Chemistry; ABET-accredited BA programs in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Science;

900 foreign nationals from 50 countries, including more than 100 international students received annually through Erasmus+ International Mobility and bilateral exchange programs are currently studying at TSU.

  • An increased accent on basic and applied research programs;
  • The internationalization of educational, research, and administrative processes.

Research and International Projects

TSU scientists are involved in important international scientific projects: the ATLAS experiment carried out on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN; experimental research at the COSY accelerator of the Jülich Research Center (Germany); and the COMET experiment planned at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC); KM3NeT experiment launched in the Mediterranean Sea; international accelerator facility FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research), one of the largest research projects worldwide, being built in Darmstadt, Germany.

TSU is implementing over 200 research projects.

According to Scopus, over 2500 publications were published during the last five years

  • Over 500 articles are published annually in highly-ranked scientific journals
  • Joint publications have been published with over 150 international partners (Scopus)
  • About 3000 foreign scientists are involved in joint research activities
  • Up to 100 publications have been published through collaboration with industry

TSU scientists and students enjoy the services provided by modern learning spaces – 16 research institutes; up to 85 learning labs, including FabLab, SMART|Lab, SMART|AtmoSim-Lab, Bloomberg Lab; Physics and Chemistry Labs modernized with the support from San Diego University; high resolution modern nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR – 400 MHz); TSU Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Center; Multimedia Center; archeological excavation site at Grakliani Hill; fine arts studio; etc.

The list of documents to be submitted to admission commissions of TSU faculties:

  1. Statement in the name of the rector of TSU
  2. Photograph (3X4) – printed 2 pcs. and electronic version on CD
  3. A certified copy of the diploma and appendix confirming the academic degree of a bachelor or equivalent (for a TSU graduate by the university/relevant faculty, and in other cases - a notarized copy; for 2023 graduates - a notice on the awarding of an academic degree)
  4. Copy of identity card (passport); e) a notarized copy of the international certificate of foreign language proficiency/certificate issued within the framework of the project of the National Center for Evaluation and Examinations - "CERTUS" (if any)
  5. A notarized copy of the certificate confirming knowledge of the Georgian language at B2 level (if any)
  6. A copy of the conscript's military registration certificate (or military ticket, if any)
  7. Notarized copy of the document confirming the recognition of education received in a foreign country (if any).
  8. Another document, if such is provided for by the Master's program.
