About: At Midland University, the Master of Athletic Training prepares students with hands-on clinical education in team and individual sports, interprofessional work with Human Performance and Nursing, and simulated practice in the new Simulation Lab and renovated Athletic Training space. For those with an undergraduate degree, Midland offers a two-year MAT with summer start and a clinical immersion experience.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue professional roles in sports medicine and allied health. Paths include athletic trainer, clinical rehabilitation specialist, strength and conditioning coach, wellness coordinator, or certification and graduate study. Skills include clinical assessment, injury prevention, emergency care, and interprofessional collaboration.
At Midland University we believe sports help students learn lasting life lessons and build character. With 32 varsity sports in the NAIA, Midland is home to the largest athletic department in Nebraska and over 800 student-athletes. Our athletic training students will have hands-on training in a variety of team and individual sports, allowing diverse and comprehensive educational and clinical experiences.
With a smaller school experience, Master of Athletic Training students will have access to various interprofessional opportunities with our growing Human Performance and Nursing programs. Midland’s recently opened Simulation Lab allows students hands-on experience with mannequins exhibiting a variety of conditions, and the renovated dedicated Athletic Training space provides a home for athletic training development.
For those students who already have an undergraduate degree, Midland offers a traditional, two-year MAT option. Students can apply for the program and begin summer courses. The clinical immersion experience allows students to obtain a full-time athletic training experience in a variety of settings.
