Key Summary
This course is designed to help you develop a wide range of skills to help you become more independent in life and work. Throughout the year you will benefit from valuable work experience, and will learn how to apply for jobs/voluntary work in the career of your choice. Alongside this there will be plenty of time to learn new approaches to independent living such as personal and social development and life skills, as well as continuing to be involved in exciting practical learning in land-based subjects like horticulture and animal care.
The course will be very practical and you will have ongoing assessment to make sure you are achieving your personal targets. You will be based at Greys Loft our Centre for Foundation Studies where our teaching team are experienced in working with students with specific educational needs and a range of support is available to ensure you get the most from your study programme. A key part of what we do on all of our courses is to make sure you achieve your Education, Health and Care Plan targets to help you to progress.
We hold a sale at the end of each term and use items grown by the students in the Peak Hill glasshouse and allotment to create Peak Hill Produce, for example chutneys, jams and sauces. We also sell produce in our lovely Estate Farm Shop and this helps you to learn lots of skills to help you in work and life.
