Entrepreneurship is a dynamic field where both passion and specialized skills are essential. CSUSB's undergraduate program offers you the practical knowledge, real-world experience, and advanced business skills necessary to be a successful entrepreneur in any environment. The program enhances your academic experience by utilizing an integrated, hands-on learning approach. During the program, you will collaborate with students from other disciplines and network with entrepreneurs, mentors, and alumni. You'll not only learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur, but also develop the entrepreneurial mindset through experience and challenging coursework.
Whether you intend to start a business, work entrepreneurially in a corporate setting or family business, or take another professional path, success will demand much more than just doing the job. The undergraduate entrepreneurship program will help prepare you by developing the personal and professional attributes critical to entrepreneurial success and to effectively turn your ideas and dreams into reality.
CSUSB's undergraduate concentration in Entrepreneurial Management offers a wide range of courses tailored to helping students learn how to move from idea to business launch and the management of a sustainable venture. Undergraduate students can take individual courses, select Entrepreneurial Management as their concentration, or minor in Entrepreneurship.
Required Courses for Entrepreneurship - starting in 2025-26 Academic Year
- ENTR 4420 Small Business Management (3 units - offered Fall/Spring semester AND Summer Session):
Explores the importance of small businesses to our economy and examines key competencies needed to manage a small enterprise as an owner or manager. Studies issues such as general management, accounting and finance, human relations, marketing, operations, and introduces the nuances and subtleties of these in the small business context. - ENTR 5430 Ideation and Creative Problem Solving (3 units - offered Fall/Spring semester):
Examination of the process of generating, developing, and evaluating ideas to launch innovative and viable new ventures. Focus on identifying the difference between ideas and opportunities and the role of ideation, observation, and creative problem solving. - ENTR 5435 Startup Toolbox: Research Essentials for Entrepreneurs (3 units - offered Fall/Spring semester):
Equips students with essential research skills necessary for successful entrepreneurship. Focus on qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques to assess startup opportunities, including formal and informal interviews, industry analysis, the use of AI in customer discovery, and the basics of startup financial modeling. Prerequisites: Successful completion of ENTR 5430. - ENTR 5440 Developing the New Venture (3 units - offered Fall/Spring semester):
Introduction to the process of developing a new venture concept. Focus on transitioning ideas into a viable business venture with special emphasis on developing a sustainable business model and a hands-on business planning experience. Prerequisites: Successful completion of ENTR 5435. - ENTR 3141/TA 3141 The Improvisational Mind (3 units - offered Fall/Spring semester):
Development of foundational performance skills essential for success in any fast-paced, unpredictable business environment. Students will focus on developing cognitive flexibility, accessing creativity, exploring ensemble-based collaboration, mastering active storytelling, and honing their unique communication tools. - Required Reflective Essay: ENTR 5980 Reflective Essay (0 units)
NOTE: We recommend you take the ENTR 5450 course concurrently with either ENTR 5430 or ENTR 5440.
All courses taken to satisfy the Entrepreneurship concentration requirements must be completed with a grade of "C" (2.0) or better, including the core course ENTR 3000.

- Any 4000 or 5000 level MGMT, HRM, or MKTG course as approved by the Entrepreneurship program advisor.
Entrepreneurship Student Scholarship Support Opportunities
The CSUSB School of Entrepreneurship aims to provide students with the resources needed to succeed. For eligible students, this includes financial assistance in the form of scholarships. There are several opportunities in this area, so be sure to check out all the options available specifically for entrepreneurship students and access additional information on scholarships through our CSUSB Financial Aid Office!
Spirit of the Entrepreneur Scholarship
Each year, the Randall W. Lewis Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE) at CSUSB awards approximately $10,000 in scholarships to our most promising and inspiring student entrepreneurs! Over the past 23 years, that has resulted in nearly 300,000 in support to help undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship students fulfill their dreams of receiving a college degree. Funded by donations from faculty, staff, alumni, and successful entrepreneurs from throughout the Inland Empire, the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Scholarships helps to launch students into successful entrepreneurial ventures after graduating from CSUSB. In 2025-26, the average scholarship award was $2,800.
Applying for the scholarship is simple - all that is required is to complete the financial aid application through the CSUSB Financial Aid office by the designated deadline each academic year. As a part of that application, you need to fill out the information requested in regard to the entrepreneurship scholarship. This is not a need-based scholarship, but does require the student to have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better and be enrolled (or committed to enrolling) in Entrepreneurship as a concentration (Business Administration) or minor (all majors on campus can select this).
Additional Scholarship Opportunities
- Charles and Shelby Obershaw Endowment for Student Success – Entrepreneurship - This scholarship provides support to students living in San Bernardino who are enrolled in the Entrepreneurship program. Application is through the CSUSB Financial Aid Office by the designated deadline each academic year. As a part of that application, you need to fill out the information requested in regard to how your role as an entrepreneur will impact the City of San Bernardino.
