The Master´s degree in Communication as a Historical-Social Agent is a one-year postgraduate program that provides an excellent opportunity to enhance the students´ achievements in their undergraduate course of study by implementing a broad range of interdisciplinary contents that include History, Journalism, Sociology, Audiovisual Communication and Advertising, among many others. All of which come together in this degree to transform students into "multi-profile" professionals in the Social Sciences and the Humanities. It is an official postgraduate program with an original academic approach that combines scientific rigor and professional innovation. This Master´s program is targeted at all those postgraduates who wish to gain deeper insights into Communication-related research methodologies from a variety of standpoints. Because of its commitment to addressing the needs of various professional profiles, it is aimed at both Communication professionals with an interest in research and other graduates in the Humanities and Social Sciences: historians, linguists, philosophers, sociologists or political scientists. The syllabus, designed in this Master´s, therefore, not only tries to situate the media in their respective historical context but also to analyze the media as decisive instruments of historical change and, in a more precise way, as we approach our current days. In sum, this program constitutues a great choice for those graduates who wish to upgrade their CV by receiving specialised training or steer their academic career in the direction of doctoral research.

The international Master of Arts MIREES is a Second cycle Joint Degree (120 ECTS), awarded by the University of Bologna, Department of Political and Social Sciences in cooperation with the following partner universities: Vytautas Magnus University at Kaunas; Saint-Petersburg State University, and the University of Zagreb.

The program is offered by the School of Historical Studies (SHS). The School is a dynamic community of faculty members and graduate students, engaged in a systematic and rigorous inquiry into some of the fundamental questions that concern historical experiences within and beyond Asia. The School draws its inspiration from the glorious legacy of ancient Nālandā which served as a conduit for India’s vibrant intellectual linkages with the world for nearly a millennium. As is evident from the research profiles of its faculty, SHS is uniquely poised to train students in the cultural, religious, and intellectual history of India and other regions of Asia from a comparative and cross-cultural perspective.

The inter-university master's degree course in Historical Studies from the Middle Ages to the Contemporary Age is active from the academic year. 2012/2013 and results from the merger of the homonymous LM activated at the University of Trieste from 2009-2010 with the Historical Sciences component (LM-84) of the interclass LM in Historical and Philosophical Sciences activated at the University of Udine from 2009-2010 . For both courses, the transition to the inter-university modality was determined by a number of factors, such as the already active collaboration achieved between the two universities (both for other LM courses and on the third level [research doctorates]) and the breadth of the catchment area.

Native Studies focuses on how colonialism – both historical and contemporary – impacts Indigenous nations, as well as on the many forms of resistance to it. Our courses draw primarily upon the work of indigenous scholars, and emphasize indigenous approaches to knowledge. Many span diverse geopolitical contexts.

With a BA in Critical Race and Ethnic Studies, you'll examine race and ethnicity in social, political and cultural contexts that are both contemporary and historical. Our dynamic courses unpack race relations both in the U.S. and globally. Throughout your studies, you're encouraged to build on critical theory in the classroom by practicing ethically engaged citizenship.

The Gender, Race, and Ethnic Studies Minor offers students interdisciplinary knowledge of the roles race and ethnicity, as well as, gender and sexuality play in culture, society, and politics across historical periods and geographic areas using different academic disciplines. To earn a minor in Gender, Race, and Ethnic Studies, students will complete at least 15 credit hours, including at least three courses at the 3000 level or higher.
