After completing this program, students will recognize hair types, conditions, treatments, and applications.

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up is a qualification that has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up.

As an Apprentice you will work in a salon as an assistant carrying out a range of duties to include shampoo and conditioning hair, meeting and greeting clients, as well as assisting stylist in their work to contribute to the effective running of the salon. You will also participate in salon training sessions. You will attend college on one day each week where you will work in our salon to learn and develop practical skills and theory knowledge.

Brush up your skills for a career as a hairdresser with this qualification. Develop skills in cutting hair using clippers and scissors, learn how to shampoo, condition and rinse hair, and how to dry and style hair using brushes, combs, rollers and other equipment. During your studies you will learn the skills to operate a cash register and computer, and perform reception duties such as answering telephone calls, making appointments and writing up client record cards.

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing Studies has been designed for learners developing the basic skills to become a hairdresser.

Certificate III in Hairdressing is the latest nationally accredited qualification for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in the hairstyling and beauty industry. The course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to become professional hairdressers, giving them the skills to work in a hair salon or barbershop or start their own business. You can also complete this course as a fast-track hairdressing course over 12 months.

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Barbering Studies has been designed to develop your basic skills to become a barber. Through this qualification you will develop both skills and knowledge in health and safety for both yourself, your peers and your clients.

Apprenticeships are a popular choice for people looking for on-the-job training and the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications whilst earning a wage. Most of your training will be directly linked to the career you have chosen, gaining practical experience in the workplace, backed up by attendance at college just one day a week.

An Apprenticeship in Hairdressing will develop your employability skills and give you valuable experience of a variety of routine hairdressing related activities. You will be working in a salon environment where your duties could encompass many areas of hairdressing such as communicating with colleagues and clients, dealing with customer enquiries, carrying out numerous practical hairdressing tasks etc. Your exact duties will depend upon your employer.

This entry-level Hairdressing qualification will set you up with the skills you need to embark on your Hairdressing career. This course is only available as an Australian Apprenticeship. You must have employment as an apprentice to enroll in this qualification. At TasTAFE we have three professional working salons located in Devonport, Alanvale, and Campbell Street campuses that will offer you the opportunity to learn and work as part of a team in a real-life hairdressing environment.
