The Short Course in EDI Data Analytics provides an introduction to data in the context of equity, diversity & inclusion (EDI). EDI data can be the source of much contention and/or confusion, usually borne of a need for transparency or fear or the need to protect an organisation’s reputation. By making data central to EDI work, organisations can be more confidently make decisions concerning interventions, individuals and/or groups.

In today’s global economy, many organizations uphold the values of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and aim to foster a corporate culture of empathy and mutual respect. This DEI course outlines the role of corporate policy in promoting cultural, racial, gender or any other differences based on identity in the workforce. The Short Course in EDI Policy Analysis examines four key areas: (i) what is a policy? (ii) the messiness of the policy making process (iii) policy development models, and (iv) Taylor et al’s analytical approach to policy analysis where policy is regarded as: (a) text, (b) context, and (c) consequences.

We’ve all heard and used the words ‘equality’ and ‘diversity’ before but what do they actually mean and how do they affect you as an employer or employee?

This course will allow journalism educators to make a real impact on American newsrooms' future diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts when they model those values in the classroom. This online group seminar will empower you to examine your current teaching materials and curriculum with an eye toward inclusion and representation and give you the tools and skills to diversify your lessons, examples, speakers, and more.

The Thanatology department offers a wide variety of courses, including an overview of bereavement and grief, ethical issues, palliative care, suicide, children and death, spiritual and philosophical issues, change and transition, popular culture, grief and trauma, and diversity and social justice. The undergraduate program offers a practicum course that includes a 45-hour field placement, and a grief counselling course that uses experiential learning of basic counselling skills.
