4 Building Technology Course Programs

This occupation is found in the construction, built environment and engineering sectors, with building services engineering senior technicians employed in a variety of organisation types and sizes. The broad purpose of the occupation is to bring the built environment to life by connecting up the buildings we live and work in, ensuring they meet the needs of the people, plant, and services they need to accommodate, whilst providing comfort, building safety and security and efficiency through ever increasing environmental safeguarding.

This course focuses on both the basic and specialized techniques behind cleaning buildings. Courses also include a review of health and safety regulations, WHMIS training, and workplace professionalism. This course is based on the ISSA Canada and Cleaning Management Institute\xbfs cleaning practices and standards. Students are provided with the knowledge and practical skills for entry into the building service industry in custodial work, and upgrading for those who are currently employed in the industry.

As an introductory course, this is really designed as a pathway for you to gain an insight into the various industries that sit within the trades. The key skills that are involved in this course will transfer well into a second year of study where you will specialise in a specific skills area. Working with various tools, equipment and materials alongside learning fundamentals of health and safety as well as working with others will give you a great introduction into the trades industry.
