The Engineering and Applied Science (EAS) option emphasizes design (synthesis) as an essential part of every engineer's capability and aim to prepare students for research and professional practice in an era of rapidly advancing interdisciplinary technology. The EAS option offers students the opportunity to study in a wide variety of areas of sciences and technology, including concentrations in computation and neural systems, and material science. In addition, the option offers students the possibility of designing a customized course of study that has breadth, depth, and rigor similar to the concentrations above. The goal of the option is to combine individual depth in a particular engineering specialty and a strong background in the basic and engineering sciences, with laboratory and design, culminating in a capstone design experience. It strives to develop professional independence, creativity, leadership, and the capacity for continuing professional and intellectual growth.

You’ll learn more about the environment, planet Earth, energy, and forces. You’ll be introduced to the principles of science which you will apply to your own hypotheses and investigations.

This practical, work related course will prepare you for a career working in the applied science industry or an organisation that uses science to develop underpinning knowledge and scientific skills. It is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grades A*-E and provides a good basis to go on to more advanced qualifications.

Applied Psychology explores our complex behaviours and the inner workings of our fascinating minds. With a strong practical and problem-solving approach, this course provides you with a unique learning pathway onto our psychology degree, as well as other science and health degrees. You will deepen your understanding of key topics such as cells and organ systems, chemical bonding and reactions, waves and materials and learn different psychological approaches and how research is conducted, with a large unit on health psychology.

This course develops your understanding of scientific theory, coupled with experimental techniques that help you to be successful in either employment or at university. Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to perform a variety of biology and chemistry related experimental work, learn how to work safely within a laboratory environment, and use maths and statistics to analyse experimental data.

This two-year course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and covers the fundamentals of science, working in the science industry, scientific investigation and practical techniques, perceptions of science and application of numbers.
