The Automotive Technology program not only educates students about the various aspects of automotive technology but it prepares students for a lifetime occupation. This program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to operate, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic equipment within an automobile. This includes instruction in electrical circuitry, simple gearing, linkages, and the use of test equipment.

The College's Automotive Technology program is certified by the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Education Foundation. Students completing the program will be prepared to take all eight Automotive Service Exams (ASE) in the Automotive Technology Program giving them the additional certification desired in the industry when they seek employment.

The Automotive Technology curriculum is designed to prepare students for employment as apprentice auto mechanics or to allow students to continue toward a Baccalaureate degree in other advanced schools of technology in preparation for future management and teaching careers in the automotive industry.

The AS degree will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the major course requirements listed below and the General Education requirements for the Associate in Arts Degree listed in the Degrees and Programs section of this Catalog.
