12 Dentistry Associate Programs

Registered Dental Assisting Programs are designed to instruct women and men with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform as dental health care paraprofessionals. Students are taught to assist in all phases of general dentistry and dental specialties including prosthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Through the Registered Dental Assisting Program students will be taught to perform in expanded functions, trained and licensed in taking dental x-rays, certified in coronal polishing and pit and fissure sealants. The preventive, restorative, business, and employment aspects of dental assisting are also included.

College of Alameda’s Dental Assisting Program is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation and by the United States Department of Education. Our program consists of two consecutive semesters (Fall and Spring) of full-time study and will prepare you to obtain your RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) and CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) licensing.

The Dental Therapy program was created to increase access to quality, culturally responsive providers who are oral health advocates in their communities. The expectation is that graduates of the Dental Therapy program will be skilled clinicians who practice with confidence and value the patient/provider relationship.  Graduates will have learned to treat all individuals with respect and value the importance of life-long learning.

Dentistry is a career field that requires degrees beyond a four-year undergraduate degree. The pre-Dentistry major is comprised of the basic courses required for an undergraduate degree in pursuit of more advanced degrees.

The Associate of Applied Science in Dental Assisting degree is a 68-credit undergraduate program which prepares you for a career as a dental assistant. The degree program in Minneapolis, MN provides students with fundamental knowledge and skills in pre-clinical dental assisting, dental science, radiology, and more, with additional required gen ed courses.
