Study hospitality & tourism!The field of hospitality and tourism is dynamic, challenging, and full of a variety of opportunities. A hospitality degree opens the door to event planning, hotel management, restaurant service, festival coordination and so much more!

In earning a tourism degree or hospitality degree, students may choose from many different specializations. Two of the largest areas within tourism study are event management and hotel management.  Within tourism education, schools can also offer anything from business degrees with a focus on tourism to vocational degrees as ski instructors or horse guides to destination development to sustainable tourism practices. Students who are interested in a tourism education should remember that they are entering a services industry and, as such, customer service, appearance and attention to detail are paramount.

Study Event Management

Event management education programs incorporate the entire gambit of responsibilities associated with planning, marketing, financing, and project managing events which range in scope, scale and complexity from large scale music festivals to corporate meetings, and cover activities from sports and culture to product launches and fundraising.

Study Hotel Management

Hotel management education programs range from diploma and vocational to doctorate and PhD level. Hotel management students learn the operational tasks necessary for running a successful hotel. Studying hotel management provides a varied and challenging degree program with opportunities for employment and further post-graduate studies around the world.

Other opportunities within tourism

In the tourism industry, students have the option of working within both the private and public sector. The private sector of hospitality is largely made up of businesses within the hotel and restaurant sector, conference centers, camp sites, theme parks, and ski resorts. Within the public sector of tourism, offices and institutions are dealing with an increase of national tourism and development of the sector.

Tourism's future

The future for graduates of tourism and hospitality degrees is a bright one. The increases in globalisation and budget air travel as well as the development of new economies has led to a fast-growing and diverse tourism industry. More and more people are able to afford holidays abroad. This combined with an increasingly international business market with more conferences and business trips translates to an high demand for tourism and hospitality professionals.
