The program of the first week is focused on meat and meat products hygiene and second week includes subjects of milk and milk products hygiene. Practical and theoretical education, laboratory skills, trips to the farms, food companies and slaughterhouse. There is the option to attend only the first or second week of the course

The Global Ecologies Studio Summer School is a combined studio and science course offered to students who are looking for an opportunity to explore their studio art practice while examining various concepts found in ecology and earth systems. Based in the Burren of Western Ireland, this course provides a unique experiential and observable location to explore relationships between landscape and the social sphere.

In the Summer Course in Governing Climate Change: Theory and Practice, participants will delve into the examination of diverse approaches for coping with climate change, encompassing international agreements, market-based solutions, civil society initiatives, and corporate actions.

Following the success of previous editions (2016, 2017, 2019, 2024), which saw the participation of more than two hundred students from all around the world, the Department of Political Science of the University of Pisa is now organizing the new International Summer School on Grounded Theory and Qualitative Methods.

The Summer School Reinventing Rural: Transformative Solutions in Innovative Rural Areas, the Tuscany Case explores how small farms contribute to transformative solutions in innovative rural areas while contributing to local prosperity and food and services provisioning for society.

The Summer School on “FishDNA: Traditional and Next-Gen Molecular Tools for Seafood Traceability and Safety” provides an advanced and integrated overview of the molecular approaches currently applied in seafood inspection, authenticity verification, and hygiene monitoring.

Our summer school is a practical, full-immersion course covering biotechniques that can be applied to the study of several biological subjects related to cell biology, gene expression and ultrastructural observations.

This summer school is a full-immersion workshop on cell culture techniques for both adherent and suspension cell lines with particular emphasis on cell viability assays. In the workshop, schematic theoretical lectures will be given to introduce the assay protocols and to plan the experimental part that will be hosted in cell biology laboratories.

This course offers an introduction to organic chemistry - the molecular 'language' that underpins biology, pharmacology, medicine, diagnostics, environmental and materials sciences. Students will gain insight into the chemical reactivity of carbon-based molecules by exploring structural and bonding models, chemical thermodynamics, and reaction kinetics.

The international Summer School on Agriculture, Forest and Environmental geodata Statistical analysis, modelling and machine learning [SAFEST] will provide theoretical and practical teaching on the statistical methods and tools for geodata handling and analysis, with special emphasis to soil traits, crop yield or plant biomass in the agricultural, forest and other land uses under variable management and environmental conditions. Methods provided will be tailored to a wide range of scales, from plot to landscape to regional scales.

The Introduction to Biotechnology: Detecting and Treating Disease course will examine the basic concepts of biotechnology and the instrumentation and techniques used in the manipulation of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA). Students will learn how biotechnology's tools and techniques are being used to help identify and fight disease, with a special emphasis on tools that help detect viral infections such as COVID-19. This course will also examine the ethical and privacy issues associated with biotechnology such as genetic testing, vaccine distribution, and gene therapy. Prerequisites: General biology & chemistry.

Ecological Economics, with its core emphasis on interdisciplinarity and incommensurability, provides a valuable conceptual framework for exploring the needed transitions towards sustainability. Students, thanks also to debate-based activities, will be able to formulate their own informed perspective on sustainable development, and develop realistic policies/strategies for the transition towards sustainable development.

The international School on “Framing Livestock and Agriculture Innovation, Resilience and Sustainability (FLAIRS)” will provide theoretical and practical training on the definition, framing, and dissection of the environmental and economic sustainability (with some hints on the social aspects) in agri-livestock systems and its value chain.

Fiber-optic sensing has rapidly emerged as a transformative technology for monitoring and understanding different geological, geophysical, and environmental processes. By exploiting existing telecommunication infrastructure or purpose-built cables, distributed fiber-optic sensing, such as Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS), and Distributed Strain Sensing (DSS), enable high-resolution measurements across large spatial and temporal scales.
