Cellular agriculture seeks to advance tissue engineering for the production of affordable, nutritious, protein-rich foods. Researchers and manufacturers translate cellular agriculture research into food industry innovation that has positive environmental and societal benefits. The interdisciplinary program is administered by the Department of Biomedical Engineering with collaboration from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.

As part of a collaborative partnership with the University of Lethbridge, AHT Diploma graduates can transfer into a Post-Diploma Bachelor of Arts or Post-Diploma Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Studies) program, provided they have a 2.5 grade point average or higher.

Awarded upon successful completion of 16 or more days of qualifying Short Programs courses in Professional Education, this certificate equips you with an extended knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of biotechnology as well as an understanding of new technologies and a hands-on approach to introducing new methods of formulating, manufacturing, and everything in-between.

In this full-time, Alberta Advanced Education approved, 12 week certificate you will learn in a cohesive work climate simulating real-life job sites. Students learn while completing various industry standard projects to apply their operating skills. The Heavy Equipment Operator classes are small which lends itself to a cohesive work climate simulating real-life job sites. Industry-standard COVID safety procedures are implemented and enforced, this prepares students to know what to expect when they enter the industry.

If you’re interested in studying agriculture, but you only want to commit to a year, then our General Agriculture Certificate program, offered through a brand new partnership with Lakeland College is for you! Our certificate program offers a specific concentration on crop production. The courses offered will allow you to master fundamental skills that are essential for modern agricultural operations, including computer training, keeping accurate business records, and using up-to-date and innovative technology. Skills specific to crop production will involve you in practical field skills used to identify plants and weeds and assess a variety of pest problems. Upon completion of your certificate program, you will also be given the option to transfer into year two of Lakeland’s Crop Technology Diploma program, offered on its Vermilion campus. The diploma program will allow you to gain knowledge and skills through agronomy, production, precision farming, and financial management classes while being immersed in a hands-on experience through industry practicum or Lakeland’s student-managed farm. Whether you choose the acquisition of your certificate as your exit point or choose to continue on to the diploma program, you will find yourself prepared to contribute to a farming operation or to work in the retail agriculture sector.

The Addictions and Mental Health program is a full-time one-year graduate certificate program delivered Online or Distance Learning. We also offer part-time Online or Distance Learning delivery. Learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by front-line workers and supervisors in order to deliver responsive and effective addictions and mental health services while promoting empowerment, self-determination, and optimum quality of life to individuals with addictions and mental health issues.

The Addictions and Mental Health program is a part-time graduate certificate program delivered Online or Distance Learning; students have up to five years to complete the program. Learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by front-line workers and supervisors in order to deliver responsive and effective addiction and mental health services while promoting empowerment, self-determination, and optimum quality of life to individuals with addictions and mental health issues.
