The West Coast's only lab-based Cosmetic Chemistry program equips you with the scientific foundation, lab skills, and formulation expertise needed to develop innovative, safe, and market-ready cosmetic and personal care products. The Chemistry Skills Certificate is designed to validate students' proficiency in fundamental chemistry concepts and laboratory techniques, typically acquired during their secondary education. By successfully completing a minimum of three Chemistry Skills classes, students demonstrate their competence in applying mathematical principles, problem-solving strategies, and laboratory skills to chemistry-related tasks.

The curriculum provides students with a strong background in fundamental principles and theories of chemistry with hands-on experience using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment.

Laboratory skills gives students hands on experience in scientific techniques by working in a simulated laboratory. You will use current industry procedures; learn how to collect samples for testing, prepare laboratory solutions, handle bacteria and use high performance equipment in our microbiology, chemistry and general purpose laboratories. This course will also cover work health and safety, communications skills, and quality systems in laboratories.

The biochemistry concentration offers an interdisciplinary perspective that will place you at the cutting edge of modern science.
