The study of soft matter and soft materials requires a comprehensive understanding of physics and chemistry in this field. The goal of the Master's program Soft Matter and Materials is to provide technical knowledge and conceptual competence related to the production of building blocks (e.g. polymers, supramolecular tectons, colloids) and the structure-dynamics-property relationships of soft matter and materials. Functional concepts will be learned based on general synthetic components, in addition to biologically-relevant components.

As such, this program introduces for the first time the methods and techniques of scientific research in a particular area of Chemistry via undertaking a novel research project under the supervision of a faculty member from the Institute of Chemistry.

MSc in Chemistry can be joined at the Faculty of Science of the University of Pécs. The courses are open from September, each year, and are continued during a 4-semester cycle. The education is followed in English. The students who have studied chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and pharmacy at the undergraduate level (BSc) will complete their knowledge at the Master of Science level. The Low Carbon Technologies and Sustainable Chemistry is a new 2 years Master's Degree focused on natural cycles industrial chemistry, materials chemistry, industrial biotechnology aimed at assessing the environmental impact and managing and developing low environmental impact technologies.

The M.Sc. in Chemistry program offers a Thesis (research) track and requires two years of full-time study. The Postgraduate Chemistry Study Program was opened in 1981. This program was acknowledged by the Decree of the Director-General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in 1993. The master's and doctoral programs in the Department of Chemistry have been accredited by BAN (National Accreditation Board). Starting in 2016, the management of the master's and doctoral programs in Chemistry was separated.
