As an international role-player focusing on healthcare in Africa, the vision of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Pretoria is to maintain health standards through quality education, research and community service. Since its inception, it has grown to be one of the largest health training institutions in the country and boasts an undergraduate and postgraduate student corps of over 6 000.

The DMed degree is conferred by virtue of a thesis and, if the Dean deems it necessary, an examination on the field of study of the thesis.

The first two years of education are part of the basic science program. They are mostly classroom-based with patient exposure given through health centres and the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in St Vincent. The third and fourth years are part of the clinical science program and consist of rotations through medicine's different major specialities.

Study the specialization with the longest trajectory in the clinical-therapeutic field for speech pathologists in the world. Take a postgraduate course with a comprehensive approach: in addition to acquiring all the competencies in the clinical area, you will also learn about inclusion public policies, rules to enable a health service, how to lead a clinical team, and much more. It deals in-depth with topics such as the diagnosis and treatment of highly complex disorders such as vertigo and tinnitus, the fitting of hearing aids, and auditory-verbal rehabilitation. Take face-to-face classes once a month with a high practical component (currently, classes in remote face-to-face mode mediated by technology) and get ready to practice your specialty in different countries of the world.

The University of Pittsburgh Physician Scientist Training Program (PSTP) was established in 2007 to develop leaders in academic medicine. We are interested in fostering an environment where our students learn the skills necessary to become future pioneers in research—taking ownership of their projects and seeking external sources of funding to help facilitate the development of their ideas.
