Tuition fees at public universities
Compared to the rest of Western Europe, tuition fees in Hungary are very affordable. Tuition fees vary depending on school and program for international students. Often medicine and dentistry are among the more expensive options with tuition fees are between €12,000 to €16,000 while other less specialized programs can be as low as €5,000.
Tuition fees at private universities
You can expect that private universities charge higher tuition fees. Nevertheless, it is best advised to check the official university page to discover how much you need to pay. In addition to paying tuition fees, students at Hungarian universities are also required to pay an application fee, exam fee, and registration fee, each between €100 and €150.
Keep in mind that both public and private universities are free to decide if they charge the same tuition to EU and non-EU citizens.
