The Department of Mathematics and Physics (DMF) of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” opens a Master of Science (MSc) Program in Physics starting September 2020. Entirely offered in English, the MSc in Physics is strongly connected to the research activities performed at the DMF. The International MSc Programme in Physics delivered entirely in English, is designed to provide students with thorough and flexible training in the field of physical sciences and its technological applications, in an exciting and international research environment. It is also aimed to provide a solid cultural background in the various fields of modern physics, covering both theoretical and experimental aspects. Students may specialize in a particular sub-field, such as Nuclear and particle astrophysics, Atomic and molecular physics, Physics of complex systems, Environmental physics, and Aerospace physics, thus taking the right road to becoming a leader in their field of interest. The Physics graduate will have the academic qualification to participate in either fundamental or applied research at the international level. Alternatively, his professional profile allows him to enter into industrial sectors with high technological content, promoting and developing scientific innovation, also taking responsibility for projects and structures.

The Doctoral School of Physics covers the fields that are the subjects of research in the Institute of Physics; namely, laser physics, including THz and X-ray laser research, nonlinear optics, generation of ultrashort laser pulses, laser-based acceleration of particles, quantum informatics, theoretical atomic and molecular physics. World-leading research on high-energy THz pulses and their applications has a strong tradition at the Institute. There is a close collaboration between the doctoral school and three institutes of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences: both the Institute for Solid State Physics and the Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics of the Wigner Research Center, and the Institute for Technical Physics and Material Science, further the Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI-ALPS) institute in Szeged, as well as several international scientific collaborators and local industrial partners. Students will be able to synthesize theoretical and empirical studies, conduct their own research, and present them both orally and in written form.

Physics provides a foundation for all other sciences. The skills and knowledge gained in physics are also helpful in several non-science-related disciplines such as business and social work. As a career, physicists put their theoretical knowledge of science to practical use in many high-tech industries, such as electronics, robotics, communication, aerospace technology, and medicine. There's no limit to what you can do with a solid foundation in physics!
