The study program prepares students for independent academic work in the field of communication, media, and marketing studies at universities, with substantial knowledge of communication and media theories and methodologies.

A research thesis in this PhD programme should develop and deepen recent and innovative marketing strategies and concepts, including social media and the Internet, that help us to improve strategies to stay in touch with customers.

We welcome proposals for research in any area connected with media, communications, digital media, cultural theory and practice.

This study programme serves to explore, through the realization of the research thesis, the use of advertising, integrated marketing communications and new media in local, regional, national and global markets.

The 3rd cycle of studies leading to a PhD in Design is a PhD Program in Association between the University of Aveiro (Department of Communication and Art) and the University of Porto (Faculty of Fine Arts), with the collaboration of teachers in the area of Design of these institutions, as well as researchers from ID+ Institute of Research in Design, Media and Culture.

The doctoral program in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms, started in the academic year 2008/2009, aims to enable students to enhance knowledge at a doctoral level in the area of Communication and information Sciences on scenarios of technological mediation, and also provide skill development and training as independent researchers. In this social media-related curriculum, the student is expected to explore how to strategically create and distribute a brand's content across a variety of different social networks. Social media managers are tasked with representing a company across social channels as the sole voice of the brand.

The EUCLID online Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Open Learning takes up the challenge of offering a comprehensive doctoral program at the junction of three specialized fields of knowledge and application: (1) open learning in all organizations (2) online education in a university context, and (3) cross-disciplinary challenges of pedagogy, andragogy and information technologies.

The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend HK$HK$26,900 (approximately US$3,450) to each awardee for up to three years.
