Van Hall Larenstein has 2 locations. In Velp, we are located on the Larenstein Estate: a modern building surrounded by luscious greenery. It only takes a few minutes by bike to get to the vibrant city center of Arnhem. The second location is in Leeuwarden, the European capital of culture in 2018. Leeuwarden has canals flowing through the city and it's closely located to the Dutch islands.
Both Leeuwarden and Arnhem are medium-sized student cities with loads of international students. Throughout the year there are festivals, markets, and concerts where you can hang out with your friends and meet the locals. Amsterdam, The Hague, Berlin, and Paris are only a short train journey away.
Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences has two campuses:
Leeuwarden (North)
The newly renovated campus building in Leeuwarden includes a large library, laboratories, technology halls, greenhouses on the roof and the Grand Café. At the heart of the Friesland region and located near the Dutch islands, Leeuwarden is a charming student city featuring many nightclubs, cafes, museums, and canals flowing through the city.
Velp (East)
The modern Velp campus building is situated at the beautiful Larenstein Estate, where it is surrounded by luscious greenery, and only a few minutes away from the vibrant city centre of Arnhem. Boasting a vibrant nightlife on the Korenmarkt, the Rijn river, and an array of student associations, Arnhem is a dynamic and multicultural city with many great initiatives.
Student accommodation in The Netherlands differs from many other countries: most higher education institutions (including Van Hall Larenstein) do not offer housing on campus and most Dutch and international students find their own accommodation on the private market. However, many private housing agencies, websites and Facebook groups offer affordable student housing (shared apartments, individual rooms or studios) in both Leeuwarden and Velp.
For more information on housing, check the institute's website!
