Curriculum
Year 1: In your first year, you’ll explore the basics of food technology, learning about food production, chemistry, microbiology, and physics. You'll gain practical skills in our laboratories, work on projects, and start understanding the entire food chain, from raw materials to finished products.
Year 2: Your second year deepens your knowledge with more advanced courses in food processing, quality control, and food safety. You'll engage in hands-on lab work and projects, learning how to improve food products and make them safer and more sustainable. This year also includes guest lectures and company visits to see real-world applications.
Year 3: In the third year, you’ll focus on specialized subjects like food innovation, product development, and marketing. You’ll participate in an internship, gaining real-world experience in the food industry, and work on projects that challenge you to create and improve food products.
Year 4: Your final year involves completing a major project or thesis, often in collaboration with a company. You’ll apply everything you've learned to solve real industry problems, preparing you for a career in food technology. You’ll also have another internship to further expand your professional network and experience.
Program Outcome
All our 4-year Bachelor programs result in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. All study programs at VHL are accredited by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). This is the official organization responsible for evaluating the quality of higher education institutions in the Netherlands.
